Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Woke up this morning feeling achy and with a scratchy throat.

Billy has apparently taken all of our cold medicine already, so I'm making due by using a ShowerSoother in this morning's shower (I remembered to shampoo my hair this time!!!) and popping ibuprofen like it's candy.

Today's wedding projects: make my veil (since today is my last day to myself in the apartment while Billy is in class - start the big girl job on Monday!) and go to Sephora to get some makeup. I also might start on the programs, but I'm not in a big rush on those because, unlike the veil, that can be done while Billy is home.

But the big plan for today is to NOT GET SICK. Because holy shit I CANNOT handle that right now. CANNOT.

Yay books!

Still feeling ill, but we went to visit the diner this afternoon and I had some beef barley soup (and a grilled cheese sandwich) which helped (well, the cheese sandwich didn't so much, but it was still pretty yummy).

Spent today catching my book blog up on the books I've read recently. I read a couple of really short books (read one so fast I didn't even have a chance to add it to my Goodreads profile until after the fact) and then last night I finished the pretty awesome Little Brother.

Next up I'm reading Susan Faludi's Terror Dream. I've wanted to read this one for awhile, so I'm glad I've finally got it!

I am (getting?) sick.

I was originally supposed to have today off from work, but then I volunteered to take four hours of someone else's shift today (because, yay money, and it was only four hours). Billy wasn't too happy, but I figured, oh well. It was only four hours.

And then today I woke up sounding like I've been smoking a pack a day for ten years. I went out and got a hot chocolate - no help. Then I tried gargling warm salt water (which is almost always a cure for my froggy throats). No dice. I sound as terrible as ever.

I'm coughing intermittently, but I really hope that's just my body trying to kick the crap out of my throat. I was working as greeter in the store yesterday, so I'm hoping I just overtaxed my poor throat and everything will be fine by tomorrow morning when I have to go back to work.

Death by Retail

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Last night Banana Republic had a crazy after hours shopping event for people who spend way too much on their credit cards.

It was crazy. And obnoxious. They had me working the cash register. I'm not a good cashier on a normal day (numbers and I have never gotten along well), so making me ring up huge purchases for half-drunk people for three hours wasn't the best move anyway. Add to that technology glitches (sale items were ringing up at 20% off rather than 30%) and I was tired and exhausted and NOT AMUSED.

Add to that that the event came at the end of an 8 hour shift during which I wasn't granted any of my 15 minute breaks and I'm even more unamused. And now have a headache like I'm the one who was downing glasses of champagne like they were water.

Please oh please oh please let me get the publishing job next week...
