So I've decided that everyone's doing their own makeup for the wedding. Hiring a make up artist seems like a silly expense, and I've decided to go with the highly recommended JC Penney's salon, since my maid of honor knows a stylist there and they're giving us lots of coupons to take the price down for everyone's hair.

Since I'm no expert on makeup, I decided to go to a MAC makeup counter today and get my makeup done so I could get a little sheet showing me where the makeup was placed as well as see stuff on me before I bought it.

OMG. I walked out looking like the love child of a cheap hooker and a raccoon. And no guide sheet. And $78+ poorer, since their requirements for the makeup application thing is to buy five items, as opposed to other places that require spending $45.

I'm returning the makeup tomorrow. Even if I had really liked the colors, the lipstick dried out my lips and the eyeshadow irritated my eyes. I really don't want to have red, watery eyes on my wedding day (or if I end up with them, I want them to be from tears of joy, rather than my makeup).

Tomorrow Billy starts his first day of grad school. So I'm taking him to school (lol) and while he's registering I'm running down to a different Macy's to return the makeup. Then later in the afternoon I'm making my first trip to Planned Parenthood so I can get a new birth control prescription, and then work at night. And then Thursday morning I fly back to Michigan to start the wedding planning extravaganza weekend!

Someone will be able to help me with eyeliner, etc., right? Also, if there's any specific colors you want in the makeup, you're going to have to warn me; I really don't own much makeup (though I bought this awesome set of all-natural makeup today, though it's foundation, mainly).

I did my make-up trial at sephora (where they don't charge or make you buy a thing!) I sort of wandered in, said I don't do make-up, but I'm getting married and need light, natural, but pretty make-up that looks good on camera. They obliged, and gave me a list of the stuff they used. (I also did this the day of our e-pictures so I could put it to use and see how it showed up!) Maybe you can find a Sephora?
