Aw, my grandma's a sweetheart
My grandma (Mom's mother) is making me a shawl for the wedding in case it's pretty and snowy outside and we want pictures. Mostly, the shawl is really for her - it makes her feel useful and part of the wedding planning process. I hadn't wanted a shawl before Mom mentioned finding something for Grandma to do, but once it came up, it wasn't any skin off my nose. Plus it's now turning into something of a family tradition for the grandmother to make a shawl for the bride (my mom's grandmother did the same for her wedding).
Today my grandma sent me an e-mail letting me know the shawl was done and she had delivered it to my mom. At the end of the e-mail she added "remember it was made with love."
My grandma and I have never been close, mostly because she and my mom have never been close. This is probably the sweetest thing she's ever written/said to me.
I fly back to Michigan on Thursday! Flying into Detroit (because OMG is it ever cheaper to fly into Detroit) and then Dad is picking me up to drive me 2 1/2 hours back across the state (omg this could be a bad trip. Well, not really bad - Dad and I have been much better lately, but it could still be awkward and quiet) where an intense wedding planning weekend will commence. I don't have too many vendor meetings - so far I only have the tasting at the hotel - but I plan on getting lots of crafts out of the way, including veil, garter and jewelry, and I want to do my hair and possibly makeup trial.
Okay, this entry has been far longer than I intended it to be. Now I need to hop in the shower quickly so I can be squeaky clean when I go to work.
